New Years Reflections
As 2017 comes to a close, I look back at another year gone by. The questions float around in my mind….did the year go as planned? Did I reach my goals? Did I accomplish what I set out to? How has my life improved? What do I want to let go of to make space for? What will my upcoming year look like? I’m pretty sure if I polled all the adults I know, the same sort of questions exist for just about everyone.
I went through some pretty amazing changes in my professional life. I joined a new brokerage in the spring. That was a great decision! I love the feeling of family and belonging we have in our office. It’s something I’ve hoped for over the years, and truly happy to say I got what I wished for!
My oldest child graduated and had a serious case of wanderlust. She travelled to 3 different countries in a 4 month span. That gave me a good dose of gray hair (LOL – like I needed more). My middle and youngest were both on traveling basketball teams during their off season, taking us to Dallas, Frisco, Houston, New Orleans, and San Antonio. Danny and I had to divide and conquer so neither of them were ever at a game without parental support. Now they are both playing with their school teams and thriving. With that, I took on the role of basketball mom, not knowing it would be a second job at the
time! It worked out well, and we got through the overwhelming beginning, and with lots of support from my fellow basketball moms. Now it’s smooth sailing.
My favorite change of 2017 was the launch of Discover New Braunfels! My partner in crime, who also happens to be my mentor, marketer, encourager, and cheer leader, Melissa Elizondo, suggested that I do something different to help me stand out and be a recognizable face. She asked me what I was passionate about, and some of my answers were “My town!” And “local businesses” and “connecting people.” I love my primary job as a Realtor because I get to meet people and help them realize their dreams of homeownership, or to have a competent agent to sell their homes so they can downsize, upgrade, or relocate. This goes hand in hand with Discover New Braunfels because with the influx of people moving to the area, I get to not only help folks with their home sale or purchase, I help them fall in love with their (our) town! Additionally, beyond my own real estate clients, people from all over the community and beyond are being introduced to (or reminded of) small, locally owned businesses that offer unique products and services! Best of all, our homegrown businesses are experiencing a wave of new customers, thereby boosting their sales and our local economy! Win win win!
2018 is starting off with a new season of Discover New Braunfels. We already released the first episode and have 4 more that have been recorded. Gruene Records is currently working hard, editing and preparing them for release. We will be visiting several more extraordinary businesses (new and veteran) in the near future. I am truly excited to share this with you!!!
Cheers to 2018! I will leave you with some of my favorite quotes to help usher in a wonderful, memorable new year!
